4/17/2020: Updates for Almond-Bancroft Schools

Covid-19 Update:  Almond-Bancroft Public Schools (4/17/2020)
 
The Governor of Wisconsin declared on April 16, 2020, that all schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year.  Almond-Bancroft Schools Administration, Teachers, and Support Staff will work hard to continue to provide virtual/packet learning opportunities, social/emotional support, and maintain our food delivery program during this time.  Below are some items that parents/community members may have questions/concerns:
  • Virtual/Packet Learning
    • Teachers will continue to provide learning opportunities
    • Material delivery and pickup happens on Mondays in conjunction with the food delivery routes
    • Communicate with your child’s teacher(s) often
    • We are attempting to strike the balance of keeping the students moving forward academically, while avoiding frustration and added stress 
  • Food Program
    • Almond-Bancroft Schools is providing meals Monday-Friday using bus/van delivery as well as the option for pickup in the main office foyer
    • The delivery routes start at 1 PM for breakfast/lunch and homework
    • The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County is also providing dinners on Mondays and Wednesdays
      • Pickup at outside the school building from 3-4 PM Monday & Wednesday
      • Pickup at the Bancroft Lions Park from 4:15- 5:00 PM Monday & Wednesday 
  • Athletics
    • The spring sports seasons are still on hold and will likely be canceled by WIAA
    • WIAA will be providing guidance on summer contact hours/practice after their meeting on April 21, 2020
    • The school building and field areas continue to be closed until further notice 
  • Changes to Upcoming Events:
    • PROM: Original date Canceled - Combine with the 2021 PROM to include both Junior and Senior Court members
    • Athletic Banquet: Canceled
    • Awards/Scholarship Program: Canceled - Students scholarship recipients will be notified via video and press release
    • NHS Induction: Postponed until the fall
    • Band/Choir/Elementary Programs: Canceled
    • Senior Graduation: Postponed:  Tentative date of ceremony will be released soon
      • Alternate plans for celebrating our seniors are in the works
    • Memorial Day Program/Parade: Canceled
    • Safety Cadet Trips (4th and 5th Grades): Canceled
    • 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony/Middle School Awards: Canceled
    • Elementary Awards: Canceled
    • I.E. Dance-a-Thon: Postponed until the fall (Thank you for your support!) 
  • Last Day of Instruction/Material Return:
    • The district will determine the last day that we will be providing instruction for the school year - look for the date to be released soon
    • Once instruction is complete, we will determine a timeline for getting chromebooks, textbooks, library books, and other school owned equipment back to the school for cleaning and inventory
    • We will utilized the bus routes to help collect materials 
  • Summer School
    • The district is waiting for guidance from the state on how we will be allowed to run summer school programming, whether it will be onsite or virtual
    • More information and registration information will be provide as we are able to better define what summer school will look like for the summer of 2020
