January 2013 PBIS Activities
On Tuesday, January 8, students in grades 1-5 attended a PBIS Booster to review our most important school behavior expectation: respect. Students viewed a video that included a Respect Rap done by children at another elementary school and watched a presentation by Mrs. McDonald who went on a respect scavenger hunt. There were a lot of pictures of students who she found being respectful listeners as well as some great liners-up! She visited a lot of music, art and gym classes and got great photos of students trying their best. Here are just a few of the photos:
October 2012 PBIS Activities
On October 24, we had a PBIS "Booster Day." Elementary classes paired up to demonstrate good behavior choices to another class. Some of the behaviors students showed off were lining up quietly, walking in the hallways with 0 or 1 level voices and good bathroom behavior. We wore our school colors to show how proud we are to be students and staff of Almond-Bancroft Schools!
September 2012 PBIS Activities
This school year's PBIS got off to a great start! On the second day of school, "Mrs. Hamburger and Fries" helped us to review our voice level scale. She kicked off our pep assembly with some reminders and cheers. Look for posters around the building reminding students of the appropriate voice level for that area. They will have pictures of Mrs. Hamburger and Fries to assist them in remembering.
Elementary staff members dressed in green t-shirts bearing the three PBIS expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, & Solve Problems.

Our third grade teachers and students reminded us what the playground expecations are here at Almond Elementary School. By chanting "Play Fair, Be Safe, Get Along" they reminded us what to do when we are outside playing with our friends.

Fourth grade students read us a poem they created to help us remember cafeteria expecations:
If you are going to lunch
And you are wondering what to do,
Remember to sit on your bottom
While you chew.
Keep your hands to yourself
Until you're through.
And keep your voice at a "1" or a "2."Then when you have eaten
All that you are able,
Don't forget
To clean up your table.
Then dump your milk
And scrape your tray
So you can soon
Go out to play. When you are done,
Please don't run.
Just head out to recess
To have some fun!**********************
Fifth grade students came up with a cheer they taught all of us regarding hallway expectations. It went like this:
The 4 always
in the hallways:
Single file,
on the right,
quiet voices,
be polite!!!

We also learned a new song about bus expectations that was written by Mrs. Doede and led by Mrs. Frank. It was sung to the melody of "The Wheels on the Bus."

In conjunction with promoting positive behaviors via PBIS, our elementary school guidance program (G.I.F.T.S.) will be focusing on the following concepts this year:
Compassion----Courage---Peacefulness
I will be visiting each kindergarten through fifth grade classroom at least twice a month to explore these concepts with students. The end goal is to create a positive school climate in which all students feel safe and can learn effectively.
